ISO/TS 16949 specifies the quality system requirements for the design and development, production, and where relevant, installation and servicing of automotive-related products. QS-9000, an American automotive industry quality standard, has been around more than ten years. In December, 2006, QS-9000 expires. Organizations seeking to continue quality management system registration must transition from QS-9000 to ISO/TS 16949 this year. Supplier registration to ISO/TS 16949:2002 (or to ISO 9001:2000) is specified by all major automotive industry customers.

ISO/TS 16949 is simple and easy to understand, connects quality management systems to all other business processes, and includes enhanced compatibility with an ISO 14001 environmental management system, if needed. |
