China Food QS Mark

QS - “quality Safety ”, is a mark standing for the food produced by the manufacturers approved by China national government must be tested and complied with relevant food standards then the mark appears on the package of the minimum retail unit with corresponding number given by General Administration of quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine of China(AQSIQ). Only the food with QS mark can be sold in Chinese market. Since 1st Jan 2004, AQSIQ firstly carried market access policy of quality safety for five food categories : rice, food veg oil, wheaten flour, soy and vinegar into effect.

Until the end of 2004, the market entry work of rice, flour, oil, soy and vinegar five food categories has all been finished, and 29611 enterprises have obtained 31632 production licenses which is 49% of the enterprise number from the survey in 2001 and the annual production is 95% of all national market sales. As reported, there are 28 food categories specified and monitored. The market entry work of 10 kinds of food, meat and milk products, drink, spice, instant pasta, cookies, can, frozen drink, fast frozen rice vermicelli, puffing food, etc. and other 13 categories, as tea, candies has been carried out. The QS certification of new seven categories, pastry, honey, bean products, jelly, chicken essence, sauce, noodle will be activated right now. It is reported that AQSIQ decided to spend three to five years to finish implementation of market access policy of quality safety for the whole food industry.
